I can hardly believe it, but exactly one year ago today we flew to Ukarumpa from POC. Amazing how much has happened since then. I was thinking about how a year ago we were going through a rough time, but it was such a different type of rough than we are experiencing now. God uses all sorts of situations to refine us. :-)
The latest on our current situation:
-We are (hopefully) about 1/10?? of the way through the tedious process of wiping down and cleaning the stuff that has mostly dead bugs. The live bugs are the real concern and we are trying to be sure we find them all.
-We have processed a lot of laundry from the basement (hung 7 loads on the lines today in 1.5 hours – had to borrow clothespins and use two different neighbors clotheslines to get them all up). It’s been rainy the last couple of days so today was the first chance we had to get things dry. We have two more loads ready to go out tomorrow, and hopefully we’ll get at least one more done as well.
-As we’ve been working through the clean-up process down there and finding live bugs it is hard not to get discouraged and/or worry about whether we might miss some and have a re-infestation problem while we’re gone. Unfortunately fumigation didn’t solve all our problems.
-We are looking for the possibility of available big freezers so that we might be able to freeze some things to kill any bugs, but it feels very unlikely.
That’s about it. Please do continue to pray…especially for wisdom and for energy to do what needs done…and that it will all be over soon!
