2025 marks 15 years of Wycliffe ministry! 🥳

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

~ Ephesians 3:20 ~

This year we will celebrate 15 years as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators! It’s a little surreal to reflect on our first time overseas as a family with a 6-month old and 18-month old!

A lot has changed since then!

Serving in Papua New Guinea

Soon after arriving for our first assignment in Papua New Guinea (PNG), James put his computer skills to use supporting the work of Bible translation, providing training and much needed tech support for Bible translators.

The Paratext (Bible translation software) Course, which James redesigned and taught for the Papua New Guinean translators, was attended by many Bible translators from numerous language groups.

During our time in PNG, James worked with over 200 different language groups, supporting their Bible translation efforts, literacy, and linguistic needs.

An Ideal Assignment with a Global Impact

God transitioned us away from PNG four years ago and placed us in an ideal situation so we could remotely support Bible translation projects around the world. This remote assignment provided many unique and valuable opportunities, for our Wycliffe ministry and our family. Here are a few of them…

“I thought I had to get on a plane…”

A recently widowed translation team advisor thought she would have to get on a plane to come and visit me with her laptop in order to get ready to return to PNG. Through the wonders of technology, I was able to help her from across the country – no plane trip required! She is now back in PNG, helping the Nali Bible translation team continue to translate the New Testament.

Training new translators

James also revised and updated training materials, enabling a new round of Bible translators to be trained on the latest Bible translation software. This helped empower them to effectively translate the Scriptures into their own languages.

Truly global impact

Since transitioning to our remote assignment, our impact has expanded to a global level! Some of the projects I have been involved with have helped 100’s of countries and 1000’s of Bible translators around the world!

The Lord has blessed us tremendously throughout the years! And now, with growing children and increased costs of living, the monthly budget that Wycliffe set for us has also grown. That, combined with some partners no longer being able to give, we are currently $2267/month below the ministry budget established for us by Wycliffe.

The light bulbs that are lit represent recent increases to our partnership team since making this chart in January! 💡🙌

Our ministry budget deficit is so significant that Wycliffe has required us to refocus 50% of our time into developing our partnership team.

Now is an ideal time to prayerfully consider:

• Invest in the work of Bible translation by becoming a regular financial partner.
• Increase your giving as the Lord leads.
• Advocate for us by connecting us with your friends, family, small group, or church.
