When I first heard the following story, it was very odd and I didn’t see the point.  That is, until the storyteller explained it in the end.  Then, it was very worth listening to and retelling.

There once was a gal who had five feet and on each of these five feet she wore size sixteen shoes.  This girl met a two headed guy named Tim and Tim wore a tutu.  Now, Tim was interested in this gal and he asked her to go on a date.  On their first date they went to the core of the earth and shared ten tins of thirteen chocolates.  Tim and the gal eventually got married and then they gave birth to an elf, but this was no ordinary elf, he was a very tall elf, so they named him Eph.  Eph turned out to be six feet thirteen inches tall.  The End.

Now the explanation: this story can be used for spiritual warfare in the midst of temptation.

The gal that has 5 feet and wears size 16 shoes is a reference to Gal(atians) 5:16 which says to “live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” When we live by the Spirit, we will not give into the temptations we face but if we do not, we are living by the flesh and will fall to temptation.  We must remind ourselves that we are to focus on God glorifying things instead of the sin that so easily entangles us (Hebrews 12:1).

A 2-headed guy named Tim wearing a tutu is a reference to 2 Tim(othy) 2:22 which tells us we are to “flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” We are to pursue the Godly things in life and to run away from the temptations that seize us.  Run hard away from evil and hard towards the things of God.

Their 1st date was to the “Cor” of the earth where they shared at tin (10) of 13 chocolates.  1 Cor(inthians) 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” Be assured that you are not alone, there are many others before you that have encountered this same temptation.  And God is faithful, He always provides a way of escape and never lets us be tempted more than we, by His grace and power, can handle.

Lastly, we have their child.  A kid named Eph who was 6’13” tall.  Ephesians 6:13 says, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” We are to never take off the armor of God and should remind ourselves daily of how God has equipped us for victory in every spiritual battle.  Remember, we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against the evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12), and these battles require spiritual weapons.  Always remember that Christ has (past tense) already seated us with Him in the heavenly realms, the war is already won!  We must endure to the end (Matthew 24:13) when Christ will accomplish the final victory in the final battle.

Lord willing, by the time you get to the end of these verses you will have overcome your temptation and will be focusing the Lord and His ways instead.
