Missed a flight, got another for $1100

This has been an awful morning.  We got very little sleep, woke up at 3 am to catch a 6:15 am flight.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have visas to enter Australia, so the airline wouldn’t allow us to have our tickets to Australia.  After they had processed the line of passengers for check-in, they were able to get us visas, but by then, we didn’t have time to make the flight.

They tried to put us on a later flight today, but it was full, so they were going to put us on a flight tomorrow.  Unfortunately, that flight to Australia would arrive AFTER our flight from Australia to L.A. had departed.

We tried getting flights with a different airline in the airport, but they were full, but said their partner may have openings, so we’d have to go online and try.  That meant leaving the airport, going back to the Guest House where we were staying, purchasing Internet time, and checking online.

Fortunately, they had seats available and we’re all flying for a total of $1100.  I think that’s a pretty good deal for having purchased tickets about 3 hours before the flight, but it still is $1100 more than we were planning on.

Please pray for us, we’re all tired (read: exhausted), hot (it was only 93 degrees or so yesterday, with 150% humidity), and frazzled.  My cold hasn’t gotten any better and Christina’s is still hanging on.  The girls are exhausted and won’t get to sleep probably until the flight in 2.5 hours.  Christina and I had breakfast at about 3:30 am and really haven’t had anything since.  The girls have snacked, but are hungry.  We’ll be getting food at the airport when we arrive there in about 45 minutes.

In Christ, who is ALWAYS faithful!

James and Christina
